Lymphatic Therapy

LymphStar Pro

This is traditionally a form of massage that breaks down blockages in the lymphatic system and manually assists the body in moving lymph. It helps clean out your lymphatic system!

Here at Natural Alternatives, our therapy goes a step further. We are very proud to be able to offer treatment with the Lymphstar Pro. This is a machine that emits both light and sound waves that break up congestion in the lymphatic system. We slide the small tubular head of the machine over your skin. It feels like a very gentle massage.

The benefit of this machine is that you will see benefits five to eight times more quickly than you otherwise would with manual drainage. This means that you spend less money for better care.

What is the lymphatic system?

The lymphatic system is the immune system's circulatory system. There is about 50% more lymphatic fluid in your body than blood. The lymphatic system runs through the entire body, except the brain. It is a network of vessels that contain a thick, light liquid (called lymph), and lymph nodes that are made of a filtering tissue.

The lymphatic system does not have a pump, the way that the circulatory system has the heart. This makes it more likely to have blockages in your lymph system, than your circulatory system.

The important thing to know about the lymphatic system is that it carries bacteria, viruses, toxins, and even mutated or broken cells away from healthy tissue, to be flushed out of the body.

When the lymphatic system is not flowing properly bacteria, viruses, and anything else that would have otherwise been flushed out, now has the opportunity to sit in one place and attack your body.

What are the benefits of lymphatic therapy?

Who can benefit from lymphatic therapy?

Anyone who is looking to improve their immune system's function can benefit from lymphatic therapy. Even a healthy body will have some lymphatic buildup. This is all the more reason why someone who is suffering from a chronic illness needs therapy.

How should I prepare for a lymphatic massage treatment?

If you want to get the most out of your therapy, we advise drinking plenty of water the day before and the day of your appointment. This will help enable your body to flush out blockages and unwanted invaders.

How often should I receive a massage?

A healthy person usually needs on a few treatments a year. Depending on your health, and what type of disease you have, some people need treatments as often as every ten days.

Someone who comes in frequently should eventually see improvements so that treatment is only needed two to three times per year.

How often these treatments are needed is simply based on how backed up your system is and how well your lymphatic system moves lymph.

Are there any side effects?

Some people do not experience any side effects. Most people experience more frequent voiding. Other possible "flushing symptoms" are flu symptoms, a low grade fever, bowl movements, and headache.

These symptoms are caused by the toxins being cleansed from your system and are typical of almost any form of detoxification.

What should I do after treatment?

There are three important things to do.

1.) It is very important to drink plenty of water after a treatment. This helps prevent sore muscles and flush out toxins. We recommend drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water daily to aid in your body's detoxification process and help keep you feeling well. Drinking enough water may even prevent some detox reactions.

2.) The second thing that you can do is get on to a "drainer" supplement. This will help prevent lymphatic blockage and save you money.

3.) Get plenty of rest. Your body may have to fight off invaders that were hiding in your lymphatic system. Give your body a chance to flush out unwanted bacteria and illness-inducing viruses.

CLIENT NOTE: Treatment time is approximately 45-55 minutes.
